How high is your energy today? Let's explore how to change it.
This weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing Rebecca Campbell, in her workshop “Your Soul Had a Dream, Your Life Is It”. For those unfamiliar, Rebecca is an author, mystic, and speaker who encourages people to align with their soul’s calling. She speaks the language of energy—of inner wisdom, stillness, and divine guidance, practices that I have been following for many years now and I was keen to learn about her approaches in more depth.
One of Rebecca’s core teachings is about “light.” Not just the external light that we see, but the inner light that guides us when we listen deeply. Leadership, at its best, is about illumination—shedding light on what’s hidden, creating clarity in uncertainty, and helping others navigate their own paths. Light is of course energy.
The reason why, all those years ago I trained as a Psychotherapist was to help people explore the inner landscape—the energy, emotions, and deep-seated beliefs that shape who we are being and now I use those same principles to encourage people to turn inward for answers, inviting leaders to pause, reflect, and access the wisdom that already resides within them. We don’t pause enough. Try it. Just take a breath. Breathe. Right now. Seriously, it will take you 2 seconds.
Ok, so now you have a little more energy, lets continue.
So, that was my Saturday and on Sunday I went to Broadway Market to have an Aura Reading. A Christmas gift from a great friend. I have a science background and since I was in my teens I have worked on the principle that we are all energy. Nowadays, I have gone even deeper into that as a Reiki Healer and the awareness of how to balance our energy for well-being and working towards our goals. An Aura reading is the practice of sensing and interpreting the energetic field that surrounds a person. While this might seem unrelated to leadership consider this:
Every leader has an energetic presence. Whether we recognise it or not, people feel our leadership before they hear it. A leader’s energy can either inspire trust and connection or create resistance and tension. When you walk into a room, what does your energy say before you even speak?
An aura reading can reveal energetic patterns that increase your self-awareness about the energy we bring into our teams, organisations, and relationships. Are we leading from a place of presence and authenticity, or are we unknowingly carrying stress, fear, or self-doubt into our interactions? Where are we on balance or out of balance?
One of Rebecca’s key messages is about the power of stillness—the idea that when we slow down, we create space to hear our own wisdom. She repeatedly paused during her talk and reminded us all to take a breath. Great reminder because quite often when I am absorbed in doing something I literally hold my breath! Just think what that deprives you of within your body’s ability to access energy: It impacts your ability to think clearly; to make that important decision! Taking a breath slows the mind for all the right reasons. Take one now. Breathe.
A leader who takes time to tune into themselves leads from a place of alignment rather than reaction.
This weekend I felt reaffirmed in the importance of weaving energy awareness into leadership. Leadership isn’t just about action—it’s about the presence we bring, the stillness we cultivate, and the light we hold for others. Whether through aura readings, or simply a mindful moment of reflection, we all have the ability to access something deeper—something that makes us not just better leaders, but more conscious human beings.
So, I leave you with this question: What energy are you leading with today?
